Well, the Steve Nash Basketball is well under way. It was a very buys start and a little chaotic at moments...but everything is good now. I have 35 fabulous Referees and am looking forward to following their progress over the season.
As for my basketball team...we have had steady progress and after a break from games on Thanksgiving Weekend I have both high hopes and expectations for our next game on Saturday. There are only 4 teams in our division and we are playing another league that has only one team in the same age division. So every 4th week we play 2 games. We are now at the point of repaeating all the team s we've played. We lost our first game by 6 pts, lost the next game by 7 pts and then won the next game by 12 pts and won our last game by 22 pts. Not bad. My team won't go undefeated like last years team, but it's not the same team-just the same division.
I attended a coaching clinic on Wednesday night way out in Surrey at Queen Elizabeth, the Facilitator was Scott Clarke, the men's Head Coach at SFU. It was a pretty good clinic. I learned a bit and it's always nice to get some affirmation that I'm on the right track with my coaching style and philosophy...not that I was questioning my coaching ability.
Outside of coaching, I am still in a job search and am very busy workin on my vision board and reading books about college coaches. I just finished Kim Mulkey's (Baylor) book, Teams, Dreams and Family. I really enjoyed it, finishingly it quickly. I picked up some great ideas and concepts from the book. One of them being that she has a journal she writes favorite quotes in. She puts the quotes up on the board before games, etc... so over the years she has collected many quotes. I like that idea and I have the Perfect little journal for that. A little Build A Bear Journal...awwww!
So that's it for now. I am hoping to update this MUCH more frequently now that our Steve Nash season is underway....keeping in mind that the high school season starts on Nov 7th with Open Gym/try-outs. Yay! I was able to write as much earlier I consumed an energy drink and then promptly fell asleep right away and slept for atleast an hour or more. And now I am pretty awake. Ironic isn't it?
